It was late Dr. Robert C. Atkins who in the early 1970’s developed Atkins diet which was rich in protein and controlled carbohydrate consumption. This low carb diet has been very popular since its release and
has been considered one of the more effective diets around.
The first phase is the Induction phase. Induction refers to the stage where body fats are burnt so as to provide sufficient energy. As the carbohydrates are reduced your body will utilize the fat as fuel leading to the
loss of weight as a result of fat burning metabolism. The main purpose of induction is to reduce body weight by inducing the body’s chemistry. Induction does the following for the dieter:-
• It efficiently switches your body from being a carbohydrate burning one to one that is fat burning.
• It also stabilizes blood sugar level and by doing so it help to keep in check the symptoms of fatigue, mood swing, brain fog and an inability to function optimally.
• Halts how often you get hungry by lowering blood sugar level.
• It also breaks user’s addiction to foods like sugar, wheat or derivatives of corn, alcohol, caffeine and other sugary products.
• It also explains how much of your fat can be burnt while eating luxuriously, or liberally.
This induction phase is not meant to be your lifelong program. It lasts for fourteen days after which significant results are reflected. Later on it will teach you how to prepare a diet chart for yourself which will not
only focus on your metabolic needs, but will also take care of tastes and lifestyle as a total health program.Weight loss is quite prominent during induction. Lower carb consumption will lower the unsaturated fat level in your body and initiates carbohydrate burning metabolism.

The nutritional approach developed by Dr. Atkins is comprised of four phases:-
Phase1: induction
During this stage your body will be introduced to weight reduction by modifying you metabolism.
Phase2: Ongoing weight loss
You will slowly and simply head towards your targeted weight.
Phase3: Pre-maintenance
This phase will adjust you to the permanent and healthier diet but will also allow some sweets thereby moderating and maintaining body weight.
Phase4: Lifetime maintenance
Due to the permanently modified diet you will be able to keep those extra pounds away forever.
There are four major reasons why you must adopt Atkins nutritional methodology:-
By having the correct proportion of carbohydrate the body will easily use it only for energy and not for deposition of fats in the abdomen.
2. Controlled carbohydrate intake will result into the reduced body weight and consequently helping in weight loss program.
3. The Atkins diet allows you to take fixed amount of calorie to maintain body weight.
4. The sufficient energy will allow the body to function properly and will urge you to exercise more.
